Showtime announced the pickup of its period stand-up comedy series, I'm Dying Up Here for a second season. The show, set in 1970s Los Angeles shows the plight of comedians on and off stage as they try to make in show business. Loosely based on the book of the same name and executive-produced by Jim Carrey, I'm Dying Up Here features a handful of real comedians - Erik Griffin, Andrew Santino, Al Madrigal, and Jon Daly as part of the ensemble which also includes Melissa Leo, Ari Grayner, Clark Duke, and RJ Cyler.
Showtime wasn't sure about a second season of the show yet as recently at the TCA's the network stated they planned to put the writers of the show into a room to see what ideas they had for a second season and then they'd base their renewal decision on what came of that session. If that was the actual case, then it looks like the writers for the show have a lot of story to still tell. Production of season 2 will happen in the fall and 10 episodes will premiere in 2018.
