Stand-up and actor Jay Pharoah has been keeping busy since leaving the cast of Saturday Night Live last year -- he's been working on his debut album, he appeared on Comedy Central's Goddamn Comedy Jam, and now he's reprising one of his classic SNL impressions in a new sketch spoofing hit horror-comedy film Get Out.
The sketch is only loosely based on the film, with the premise being that Pharoah -- in character as Washington -- is getting hypnotized by the movies's spooky matriarch, Missy Armitage (played in Jordan Peele's film by Catherine Keener, and here by Heidi Heaslet). When Washington reluctantly agrees to a session with the seemingly friendly hypnotist, she touches on a sore subject by bringing up the actor's mere two Oscar wins, over his 42 film credits -- and that's where the spoof turns more into a statement on Washington's relationship with the Academy, and an opportunity for Pharoah to give a few shoutouts to fellow comic Mo'Nique.
Pharoah shot the sketch for new network All Def Digital, a hip-hop inspired YouTube channel that offers original comedy alongside news stories and music coverage.
