Jerrod Carmichael locked in a two'fer at FOX this week. Carmichael recently inked an overall development deal with the network and he struck with two comedians for put pilot commitments.
First up his co-star from The Carmichael Show, Lil Rel Howery. The currently untitled sitcom centers on Howery, a successful man put to the test to "always believe in yourself and good things will come" when he learns that his wife is cheating on him and he has to rebuild his life. Also attached to the sitcom are writers/exec producers Josh Rabinowitz and Kevin Barnett. Two funny men who worked on The Carmichael Show and starred in the truTV sketch show Friends of The People with Howery. Carmichael and Mike Scully will also executive produce.
Next up for Carmichael is a new series he's developing with one of our favorite comedians, Nate Bargatze.
The untitled multi-camera series also has a put pilot deal and will be loosely based on the life of Bargatze as he struggles with a move back home to Tennessee as he's stuck between his wife and opinionated parents.
Bargatze will write and exec-produce the series with Carmichael along with Ari Katcher (The Carmichael Show), Dan Shaki, Alex Murray and Tim Sarkes.
This is great news all around because some of the best comedians out there right now are getting a shot at the big leagues. Congrats gents!
