Louis C.K. to release two stand-up specials for Netflix

Today, Netflix confirmed a rumor we've been hearing for the last few weeks, and that the streaming service will now be in the Louis C.K. game. After spending the last few months seriously beefing up its roster of comedy talent, inking deals with all the stand-up heavyweights, like Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, and Amy Schumer, it left us wondering whether they'd be able to convince Louis C.K. to come to the streaming service. We learned today that the answer is "yes."

The streaming giant announced that C.K. will create two hour specials for Netflix for an undisclosed dollar amount. The first, titled 2017 which the comedian taped just a few weeks back in Washington, D.C. will hit the streaming service exclusively on April 4th.

There's no word on how this will effect Louis C.K.'s self-release model. But judging from his previous partnership with HBO, he did eventually get the rights to self-release the special on his own website afterward and its entirely possible that could happen again.
