Marc Maron might hold a key piece of evidence that the Civil War ended differently in "The Sword of Trust"

Marc Maron stars in a new IFC Film called The Sword Of Trust. He portrays Mel a pawnshop owner in Alabama who along with his do-nothing employee Nathaniel (Jon Bass) encounter a couple Cynthia (Jillian Bell) and Mary (Michaela Watkins) who are looking to sell a Civil War-era sword inherited from Cynthia’s recently deceased grandfather. Mel learns there's potentially real value for the sword in the form of a story that the relic is proof the South actually won the war. When the word gets out about the sword Mel, Nathaniel, Cynthia, and Mary, start to encounter with conspiracy theorists and believers forcing them to all work together and sell the sword to the highest bidder. The group soon leaves town on a tour through the Deep South, encountering the all that comes with a trip like that.

The Sword of Trust opens in theaters and VOD on July 19th.
