“Saturday Night Live” sends off Cecily Strong with a “Blue Christmas” duet with Austin Butler

Just before SNL on Saturday night – which was hosted by Austin Butler and Lizzo – it was announced that Cecily Strong would be leaving the show. Strong has been with the show for over 10 years now, and no doubt has become a fan favorite over her time on the show.

Two sketches highlighted Strong’s farewell to the show. First up, we saw her being back her Update character Cathy Anne, who announces she is leaving… to go to prison. The bit had her taking a look back at her time on the show and ended with her getting emotional, before managing to finally light her cigarette.

Then, Strong joined host Austin Butler in a duet of Elvis’ Blue Christmas. We all knew they’d have him sing an Elvis song at some point, and they found the perfect way to do so. They were then joined by Kenan Thompson, Colin Jost, Bowen Yang, Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner, and Ego Nwodim to close things out. It brought back memories of Kristin Wiig’s sendoff, and was a fitting tribute.
