Well damn this is weird news. Comedian T.J. Miller was arrested Monday night at LaGuardia airport and is facing criminal charges after allegedly calling in a false bomb threat. Police took the 36-year-old comedian in to custody and charged him with "intentionally conveying to law enforcement false information about an explosive device on a train traveling to Connecticut." However, the incident doesn't appear to have happened last night, rather it reportedly occurred on March 18th.
According to United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, Miller allegedly called 911 and told the dispatcher he was on Amtrak Train traveling from Washington, D.C. toward Penn Station in New York City and that a female passenger “has a bomb in her bag.” The train was later identified was stopped in Connecticut and all passengers were removed from the train so a bomb squad could search the area. They found no evidence of any explosive device or materials. It was later discovered that Miller was on a different train.
Eyewitness reports on Miller's train said that the comedian appeared intoxicated when he boarded in Washington, D.C. and would drink more when he was on the train. Miller was removed from his train when it came to New York for being belligerent and harassing another traveler.
This morning Miller appeared before a U.S. District Judge on Tuesday and was released on $100,000 bond. If found guilty, Miller could face a maximum term of five years in prison.
