This week in comedy: Celebrate the Fourth of July with some new stand-up specials. First up, Tom Segura has his latest special debuting on Netflix. The new special, Sledgehammer, marks Segura’s first since his 2020 Netflix special, Ball Hog. Taped in Phoenix, AZ, Segura “explores his ”admiration” for Brad Pitt, what it’s like raising two sons, and the lessons learned from sharing his gummies with his mother.”
Also this week, Kevin Hart has his brand new special - along with another season of his talk show Hart to Heart - premiering on Peacock. In his new special, Reality Check, Hart “is as funny as ever as he processes his growing family, fame, mentions on Black Twitter, and more.” This is also Hart’s first special since Zero F**ks Given came out in 2020, and his first with Peacock.
And finally, Adam Devine is teaming up with Pierce Bronsan and Ellen Barkin in a new Netflix film, The Out-Laws. In the film, “Owen Browning (Devine) is a straight-laced bank manager about to marry the love of his life, Parker (Nina Dobrev). When his bank is held up by the infamous Ghost Bandits during his wedding week, he believes his future in-laws (Bronsan and Barkin) who just arrived in town, are the infamous Out-Laws.”
