This week we learn a thing or two from Jon Dore as the news is filled with reports on the problems facing America, but it’s short on solutions. Enter Dore, a comedian and self-described outsider who fancies himself the man with the plan in Big Questions, Huge Answers with Jon Dore, a one-hour comedy special premiering Monday. On the special Dore will workshop creative, if foolhardy, solutions to “the two biggest threats to our children’s safety: cyberbullying and predatory teachers.” He pitches tech investors on an app to prevent cyberbullying and forms a student panel to judge “reverse beauty pageant” of prospective educators, in a well-meaning but misguided attempt at recruiting “safe teachers."
Then on Wednesday we see the return of the Emmy Award-winning series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel starring Rachel Brosnahan as the title character as she nails the role as a 1950s young housewife from the Upper West Side whose life was going according to plan. But an out-of-the-blue separation from her husband flips her world upside down as she just learns she has a knack for stand-up comedy. A show that isn't particularly based on, but definitely influenced by the early life of Joan Rivers. Particularly where the title character strikes up a friendship with real-life comedian Lenny Bruce.
