Tig Notaro's "One Mississippi" returns to Amazon on September 8th

Almost exactly one year after One Mississippi premiered, the smart, touching comedy is coming back for a second season.

On September 8th, the show co-created by comic Tig Notaro and Juno director Diablo Cody will return to Amazon. It follows a slightly fictionalized version of Notaro, who infamously endured one of the worst years a person could dream of when, within a span of months, she lost her mother, went through a break-up, contracted a rare bacterial infection, and was diagnosed with cancer in both her breasts -- a horrifying and complex series of events that she addressed candidly and openly onstage in a set that became the best-selling album "Live."

One Mississippi follow the stand-up's alter ego -- hilariously named "Tig Bavaro" -- after she moves home to (you guessed it) Mississippi to deal with her mother's death while recovering from her multiple serious illnesses. Despite the show's heavy topics, much like Notaro's act, it manages to avoid being too much by tackling everything with a completely honest, wry sense of humor -- and we can't wait to see how the second season continues to tell Notaro's story.
