When The Dana Carvey Show premiered on ABC in 1996, it was poised to be the next big sketch comedy show. Carvey had just ended his Saturday Night Live career and set out to recruit some really great emerging talent, like really great - Louis C.K., Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Robert Smigel, Jon Glaser. Future comedy gunslingers who were all unknowns at the time. ABC thought they had a hit on their hands, then the show premiered... 7 of the 10 filmed episodes aired and it was unceremoniously cancelled. So what went wrong? It was cutting edge and considered controversial at the time. In the years since, many considered the show ahead of its time and this brings us to a new Hulu documentary about the show's rise and fall. Peep the trailer and watch the doc when it premieres on Hulu October 21st.
