Trevor Noah to Create a Podcast Exclusively for Spotify

We’re starting to get a glimpse of what Trevor Noah’s plans are after departing The Daily Show. We obviously knew the comedian was planning to still perform stand-up comedy in front of large crowds, but he’s also (like many comics these days) is starting a podcast to serve as the hub for all his fans and adventures.

This weekend at the Cannes Lions Festival the comedian announced he’s partnered with Spotify to create an original podcast for the platform. The news was broken while the former TDS host was on a panel with Spotify co-founder/CEO Daniel Elk.

“It’s really exciting to be joining Spotify on a fun new adventure where we’ll engage in interesting and meaningful conversations with some of the world’s most fascinating people,” said Noah. “We’ll also probably fix every single issue humankind has ever faced so you definitely want to join us for every episode.”

The format of the weekly podcast will a blend of Noah’s global perspective and razor-sharp wit as he discusses the topics of the day. It continues to follow the streaming platform’s quest to sign as much top name talent in both podcasting and entertainment in general to secure it’s market share of the medium.

“Spotify is the ultimate audio destination, and partnering with Trevor Noah, one of the world’s most brilliant and distinctive voices, will make for captivating storytelling that will delight our more than 100 million podcast listeners around the world,” says Julie McNamara Spotify VP, Head of Global Podcast Studios. “We are excited to collaborate with Trevor to create an original podcast that seamlessly combines his unique humor, insightful commentary, and consummate interview skills on a global scale.”
