Fred Armisen plays drums with the Old 97's in their music video, "Good With God"

The band Old 97's are one of Texas' greatest exports and the quartet recently released their album, Graveyard Whistling. The band's frontman, Rhett Miller is no stranger to comedy as he's appeared on many popular podcasts over the years and he's called upon some of his comedy friends to help roll out the band's new single "Good with God." Jenna Fischer handles the hosting duties of a mock 120 Minutes-inspired video. The problem comes when their drummer Philip is nowhere to be found and laid up with a back injury. But as they say, the show must go on, so Fred Armisen sits in with the band for the interview and performance. The problem is, he's a bit too vocal during the process.

The good news is Armisen knows his way around a drum kit. The Portlandia star has a background as a musician in the band Trenchmouth, plays drums in Seth Meyer's late night house band, and is known to incorporate his musical flair in a variety of other projects. Check out the Lee Kirk-directed video now.

From Rhett Miller.

Lee Kirk and his team had written a great script and arranged for what would have been a very cool video when we discovered at the last minute that our drummer would not be able to take part in the filming. Thank god that Fred Armisen is a world-class drummer in addition to being literally the funniest man on the planet. What we wound up with was unexpected and amazing. This video could have been an hour long given all of the hilarious improv that Jenna and Fred did.
Old 97's Graveyard Whistling is in stores now.
