HBO is set to air a two-part, four-hour documentary about the life Garry Shandling. Judd Apatow is overseeing the project as he was a close friend of Shandling and was mentored by the late, great comedian until his passing in 2016. The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling features over 40 friends and family of Shandling discussing him as a person and a comedian. The likes of James L. Brooks, Sarah Silverman, Jim Carrey, Conan O’Brien, and Jerry Seinfeld pop into the documentary. Apatow calls Shandling “the most important mentor that I had" even though confessing he was a mystery to him as well. The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling premieres on HBO Monday, March 26th and Tuesday the 27th.
