Back in 2015, Frankie Shaw (Blue Mountain State, Mr. Robot) made a very funny and honest short film SMILF which was based on her life. The film was about a young single mother trying to reconcile her new job as responsible mother and her past as a carefree 20-something looking to create a life. The film made the round at film festivals including Sundance to be later optioned by Showtime to adapt into a half-hour TV series. The network just released the trailer for the SMILF series which stars Shaw herself as the main character and will premiere on Showtime November 5th after Shameless.
