This week Ali Siddiq heads back to jail, as he's set to have his first stand-up comedy special premiere on Comedy Central on Friday. The twist to this special is that Siddiq taped this special in a prison – Bell County Jail in Belton, Texas to be exact. Siddiq began his stand-up comedy career in jail himself where he was serving a 15 year sentence for drug trafficking. Siddiq was released after 6 years and turned his life into a new path bringing him to where he is today. During the special, Siddiq recounts hilarious experiences from both incarceration and freedom and conducts conversations with jailers and the jailed about life in lockup. Encouraging and inspiring his inmate audience, Siddiq turns hard time into hearty laughs with stories about everything from uncomfortable prison nudity to the time he doused himself in baby oil and refused to leave his cell. It’s Bigger Than These Bars premieres Friday, February 23rd at 11pm ET on Comedy Central.
