It's a pop culture meta-inception... Just follow us for a second here, a few months back Weezer released a cover of the Toto jam, "Africa" after consistent social media pestering from a mega fan who just wanted to hear her favorite band cover her favorite song. Weezer obliged, and in the process, scored their first chart-topping hit on over a decade. Weezer took the cover song onto the road for a summer tour and the likes of "Weird Al" Yankovic would show up to perform the keyboard solo part of the song. Toto would eventually reciprocate and release a cover of Weezer's "Hash Pipe." It was a fun summer for power pop, and that summer extended just a bit more today when Weezer released the official video for "Africa." In doing so, they took the meta up another level by having "Weird Al" Yankovic and a band pay homage to Weezer's first video "Undone, The Sweater Song" in a nearly shot-for-shot (save for a pack of dogs at the end) remke of the video.
Got all that? Good.
