The National Comedy Center is expanding its Advisory Board and has announced today its newest board member is none other than "the nicest man in stand-up" - Mr. Nate Bargatze!
Bargatze, who's been taking over the comedy world by storm from sold out shows on his headlining Be Funny tour, has joined the board to help guide the Center’s non-profit mission to present the vital story of comedy, providing education on the comedic arts in the form of contextualization of its bodies of work and preserving its heritage for future generations.
Bargatze joins the board of comedy all-stars that currently hosts Amy Poehler, Tiffany Haddish, W. Kamau Bell, & Jim Gaffigan to name a few who are helping guide the center's mission.
What they're saying about Nate Bargatze's addition to the National Comedy Center Advisory Board of Directors.
“The story of comedy is vast, and Nate has demonstrated a commitment to our mission to preserve that vital story,” stated National Comedy Center Executive Director Journey Gunderson. “He is influencing the comedy of the present and setting precedent with his accomplishments and dedication to the craft, while being equally dedicated to honoring the legacies of the long line of artists who came before him.”
“I’ve immersed myself in the exhibits for hours each time I’ve explored the National Comedy Center in Jamestown. It’s the only place that truly celebrates the essence of what we do" says Bargatze in a statement. "For an artist, it’s a tribute to this thing we work so hard at, and for the average visitor, it pulls back the curtain on what elevates it to being an art. The experience is just awesome,” stated Nate Bargatze.
Fellow board member Gaffigan added his excitement for Bargatze's addition to the board saying, “Stand-up means so much to me, so I’m happy to be welcoming my good friend Nate, who shares that feeling, and who also supports the Comedy Center’s work to preserve the history of our craft while showcasing the process."
The National Comedy Center, which hosts the United States' official museum & archive dedicated to the art of comedy, has also received a noteworthy contribution from Bargatze to add to its Carl Reiner Department of Archives and Preservation.
As pictured above, the archive center now hosts Bargatze's cue cards from his Washington Dream sketch during his breakout hosting debut on Saturday Night Live last year. The sketch & Bargatze's overall appearance on the show was one of the most popular & viewed this past season on NBC.
Bargatze is continuing is stand-up comedy takeover this year as he's currently back at 30 Rock getting ready to host SNL for the second time this weekend and later, he'll be hosting his own holiday variety special produced by Lorne Michaels on CBS this December. Plus, he has his newest special taped which we're bound to hear more details of sooner rather than later.
Earlier this year, the National Comedy Center received a new donation from Pixar & its Chief Creative Officer & acclaimed director Pete Docter and now hosts exclusive concept art from Inside Out 2.
