Over the past handful of years, we’ve watched Nate Bargatze’s star on the rise from popular comic to selling out arenas throughout the world and becoming a household name. Last year, Lorne Michaels invited Bargatze to host Saturday Night Live, a major accomplishment for any comedian, particularly one who isn’t really an actor or on TV aside from late-night shows. He rose to the occasion for a memorable episode, naturally. Now, Bargatze and Michaels are teaming up again.
Bargatze will host a holiday special on CBS (and later Paramount+), which Michaels will produce. The variety special will also feature stand-up, comedy shorts, sketches, and musical guests. It will all be taped at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on November 21st.
According to the press release, “the show will shine a spotlight on the heart and spirit of Nashville during the holiday season, highlighting family, fun and feel-good moments that resonate with audiences of all ages.”
What Nate Bargatze's saying about his new CBS Holiday Special.
“I’m extremely excited to be creating this special as I have long been a big fan of variety, and we don’t see enough of it! I want to make a great show for families to gather around and watch together and I couldn’t be in better hands than with this team,” said Bargatze in a statement.
The special - which doesn’t have a title yet - will premiere in December.
