New York Comedy Festival is going under a bit of a change for the 2017 year. Particularly their longterm relationship with Comedy Central came to an end last year and the festival is now headed into a different direction. And that direction, as we announced earlier this year, is with the folks at TBS. Today, festival organizers announced the initial lineup of the 2017 festival set to take place November 7th-12th. Six days with over 200 comedians performing at over 60 shows across New York.
Headliners include The Tenderlions (aka The Impractical Jokers) performing at Madison Square Garden. Bill Maher at The Theater at Madison Square Garden; Brian Regan at Carnegie Hall; Jon Lovett’s Lovett or Leave It Podcast, Nick Offerman and Ron White at the Beacon Theater; How Did This Get Made? Podcast, Jim Norton, Tom Segura and Iliza Shlesinger at Town Hall; Vir Das at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center; 2 Dope Queens at The Bell House; and Kevin Smith and Chris Hardwick at Carolines on Broadway, with Hardwick taking the stage for a three-night engagement. Additionally, The Second City will come to New York for the first time in partnership with Carolines for the inaugural Pop-Up Training Center.
As previously announced, Conan O'Brien will once again bring Conan to the Apollo Theater for a week of shows November 6th-9th.
This is just the headliners, expect the schedule to round out even further with more shows announced at the smaller clubs shows later in the fall.
In addition to stand-up shows, NYCF will showcase the first-ever TBS Comedy HUB with a takeover of the new hotel Public. The space will act as the festival's headquarters and will host a activations throughout the week including live shows in the hotels performance space which will be free to NYCF attendees. Confirmed Comedy HUB highlights include:
Conan: In addition to the week of shows from the Apollo Theater, Team Coco will curate a showcase of up-and-coming talent. Full Frontal With Samantha Bee: Samantha Bee will deliver political satire gold in a new episode with a special NYCF audience. TBS Originals: TBS will showcase its roster with exclusive first-looks at its comedy hits, meet and greets, panel discussions and more. With specific showings of Tracy Morgan’s The Last O.G. and the upcoming seasons of The Detour and Search Party, and the upcoming Olan Rogers-created animated series Final Space.
Tickets for all shows are available to the general public starting August 14th at 10am ET. Tickets can be purchased through the New York Comedy Festival website www.nycomedyfestival.com
