Yesterday, we got news that the WGA strike looks like it is most likely over, following a vote that will take place this week. That being the case, attention is now turning to when production can resume. One of the first shows to come back could be Saturday Night Live.
When will the new season of Saturday Night Live potentially premiere?
According to Deadline, the show is reportedly circling an October 7th or 14th start date for the new season. One of the obvious obstacles is that the SAG strike is still ongoing, which may limit the participation of certain actors in the entertainment industry. As a result, the show is prepared to start to turn to figures outside the industry.
As for the cast, the show is covered under SAG’s network code, which will allow the cast to potentially return, even as the SAG strike is still ongoing. But it remains to be see if the cast will all feel comfortable returning to the show, as they also do work in SAG productions outside the late night comedy series.
So much of the show’s return - just like everything else - is still up in the air. At this point, all we can do is just wait and see what happens next.
