This Week In Comedy: The gang at Tacoma FD is coming back for a new season on TruTV. The series - which was created by and stars Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme - “is set in a firehouse in one of America’s rainiest cities, where firefighters keep themselves entertained with creative competitions, friendly first responder rivalries and bizarre emergency calls.” Basically anything you can do to kill boredom, they do.
Also this week, Command Z is being dropped by Steven Soderbergh on his Extension 765 website. The post-apocalyptic series was shot entirely in secret, and stars Michael Cera, Roy Wood Jr., Chloe Radcliffe and Liev Schreiber. It takes a look at the past - 2023 to be exact - and the stars are sent back in time via a wormhole in a washing machine to fix a massive mistake.
Plus, Minx is coming back on a new network. Last year, the show that followed the behind-the-scenes of a start-up porn magazine debuted on HBO Max to great reviews from critics and fans alike. However, the show was not picked up for a second season, despite the success. After shopping it around, the show’s creators found a new home with Starz, which is where it debuts season two this week.
Finally, 800 Pound Gorilla has two hilarious new specials coming out this week. First up, Tom Thakkar has a new special premiering tomorrow on YouTube at 7 PM CT and our site with Thakkar Noir. Then Thursday, Huge Davies premieres his brand new special, The Carpark, on YouTube at 1 PM CT.
