"South Park" Creators Trey Parker & Matt Stone Are Working On A New Musical Comedy With Kendrick Lamar

This week, all the major movie studios have been gathering at CinemaCon in Las Vegas to unveil all the latest first looks & trailers for the newest movies & projects slated to release & begin production soon. And today, it's been announced that South Park creators Trey Parker & Matt Stone are teaming up with Grammy-Award winning rapper & musician Kendrick Lamar on an untitled live-action musical comedy slated for a July 4, 2025 release by Paramount Pictures.

Everything to know about Trey Parker & Matt Stone's next movie.

From the stage of the convention, Paramount CEO Brian Robbins shares his enthusiasm for the new movie saying, “This script is one of the funniest and most original scripts we’ve ever read and it’s certain to create some fireworks.”

The live-action comedy was written by Vernon Chatman & is scheduled to begin production this summer.

Lamar and Dave Free will produce the project under their PGLang banner alongside Stone and Parker via their Park County banner.

In addition to the long-running South Park series (which has been on the air now for nearly 27 years), this new project will mark the comedy duo's first major musical project since creating the nine-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical “The Book of Mormon” in 2011. Stone and Parker also created “South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut” and the 2004 feature-length film “Team America: World Police.” They also opened their Mexican restaurant in Colorado Casa Bonita, which was inspired by the popular animated series.

With Kendrick Lamar in the mix on this interesting collaboration, this will certainly be a movie we look forward to seeing unfold before it hits theaters next year!
