Last Fall, 800 Pound Gorilla News learned about the film studio Neon Rated landing the distribution rights to the new scripted comedy from Pamela Adlon (who's behind the Emmy award winning Better Things & King of the Hill) in her directorial debut, Babes. The new film, starring stand-up comedians Michelle Buteau & Ilana Glazer, has announced its theatrical release date for later next month following its premiere at SXSW this past month. And now we have a first look in the official trailer released today.
The movie Babes follows inseparable childhood friends Eden (Ilana Glazer) and Dawn (Michelle Buteau), having grown up together in NYC, now firmly in different phases of adulthood. When carefree an single Eden decides to have a baby on her own after a one-night stand, their friendship faces its greatest challenge. Babes delves into the complexities of female friendship with a blend of laughter, tears and labor pains.
Rounding out the film's cast is John Carroll Lynch & Hasan Minhaj with Ilana Glazer & Josh Rabinowitz penning the script.
