Netflix is kicking into high gear this week with Adam Sandler & the upcoming sequel to his 1996 breakout film, Happy Gilmore 2!

Everything to know about Adam Sandler's "Happy Gilmore 2" cast & crew.

The streamer announced today that Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasió - better known as the Grammy-Award winning & multi-platinum selling rapper Bad Bunny - has joined the cast of Adam Sandler's Happy Gilmore sequel. Joining him & reprising their roles from the original film are Julie Bowen, who played Sandler's love interest Virginia Venit, & Christopher McDonald, the film's antagonist & jealous golf pro Shooter McGavin.

It also announced this week that the film has officially begun production. With the announcement, Sandler posted a behind the scenes photo of Happy's hockey jersey in wardrobe saying, "It ain’t over. The way I see it… we’ve only just begun."

Kyle Newacheck, who previously collaborated with Sandler on the 2019 comedy Murder Mystery, is directing the sequel to the comedy classic. The original film follows an aspiring professional hockey player that discovers he's actually a talented golfer & joins a golf tournament to save his grandmother's house from foreclosure. No further details for the sequel's plot has been revealed yet as it's being kept under wraps.

Sandler and Tim Herlihy co-wrote the screenplay and will also produce with Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds. Executive producers are Dennis Dugan (director of the original Happy Gilmore), Judit Maull, Kevin Grady, David Bausch & Barry Bernardi.

McDonald previously teased the film's development this year sharing how Sandler showed him the written script saying in an interview, "that would be awesome.’ So, it’s in the works. Fans demand it, dammit!”

For Bad Bunny, this marks his latest foray in the comedy & acting world as he previously appeared as a host & musical guest this past season of Saturday Night Live where he manifested his own Shrek movie opposite the Please Don't Destroy comedy trio & starred in the 2022 action-comedy Bullet Train.

The Sandman also confirmed in a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is set to make a cameo in the anticipated film.
