Ellen DeGeneres has been actively working out a new comedy special at clubs & theaters across the country this year for what will be her final stand-up special of her storied career. And today, after previously announcing the title & premiere date for the upcoming Netflix special For Your Approval, we now have a closer look with the special's trailer.
In the final stand-up comedy special of her career, Ellen gets personal and reveals what she’s been doing since being “kicked out of show business.” From the mundane world of raising chickens and parallel parking to the harsh reality of becoming a brand name celebrity, she goes deep into her stand-up roots and brings the laughs through life’s most real and absurd realities.
The trailer debut gives a tease of the Emmy-winning & former talk show host catching up her sold out Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre crowd on what's been going on in her life this past year. Notably addressing the end of her Ellen Degeneres Show following the toxic behavior experienced by the show's crew. "Let me see what else I can tell you about that's been going on...Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business" Ellen says in the beginning of the trailer.
She previously said ahead of the trailer debut when announcing her final special would premiere on Netflix: "To answer the questions everyone is asking me- Yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes this is my last special. Yes, Portia really is that pretty in real life.”
The new special For Your Approval is directed by Joel Gallen & produced by Ellen, her wife Portia de Rossi & Ben Winston of Fulwell 73 Productions. This will mark her second special for the streamer & overall first in six years following 2018's Relatable.
