Johnny Hardwick - best remembered for the role of Dale on King of the Hill - has passed away at 64, it’s been confirmed. At this time, no cause of death has been reported, but foul play isn’t suspected.
Johnny Hardwick started playing the role of Dale when the show first premiered in 1997. It was a role that he was slated to continue playing for the forthcoming Hulu reboot. However, it’s been said that he had not completed recording all of his dialogue prior to his death.
Hulu & 20th Television Animation share their condolences for Johnny Hardwick's passing.
Hulu and 20th Television Animation said in a statement, “Johnny Hardwick was an incredibly beloved member of the King of the Hill family, whose tremendous talent, brilliant humor and friendship will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to work with him over the past 25 years. Our deepest condolences go out to his friends and family as we mourn the loss of one of the animation greats. His voice gave life to one of our most iconic characters, and he will be truly missed.”
Prior to his work on the show, Johnny Hardwick got his start as a stand-up comic back in 1990. He even appeared on An Evening At The Improv. However, Dale was his only official acting role.
