Comedy legend Mel Brooks made a surprise appearance on the latest episode of Only Murders in the Building this week. Mild spoilers are ahead. You have been warned.

Spoilers Ahead: What happened in this week's episode of Only Murders In The Building?

In this week’s episode, CoBro, Oliver (Martin Short) finds a replacement for Charles (Steve Martin). His replacement is Matthew Broderick, who frustratingly wants to bring to the table all of his own ideas. Broderick turns out to be a nightmare to work with, so Oliver turns to Brooks for advice. Brooks appears in a brief cameo, to tell him simply, “Oliver, you’re fucked.”

The cameo was a bit of a fun reunion on a few different levels. Broderick of course played Leo Bloom in the Broadway version of The Producers as well as the remake. Short also wound up playing the same role in Los Angeles for 6 months. And then there’s Nathan Lane, who starred opposite Broderick in the musical and played a recurring character on Only Murders in the Building for seasons one and two.

For comedy fans everywhere, seeing Brooks on the latest episode was nothing short of a great - albeit brief - surprise!
