New York stand-up comedian, writer & podcaster Mike Cannon has set a September 15th premiere date for his next comedy special, Traumatized Animal. The new hour will premiere on Chris Distefano's YouTube channel, who also served as the special's producer.

The two comics & frequent collaborators are best known together for co-hosting the wildly popular Chrissy Chaos Podcast & previously worked together on Super Maximum Retro Show on ViceTV.

Everything to know about Mike Cannon's new special, "Traumatized Animal."

Taped this past April at New York Comedy Club in Stamford, CT, Traumatized Animal provides "an irreverent and honest look at parenting as a millennial father looking to break the chain of generational trauma. In an hour jam-packed with jokes and stories, Mike candidly speaks about his own mental health struggles and love for his child (and one on the way), as well as deep dives into his own childhood while breaking down how it has impacted his approach as a father. This is a relentless and refreshingly authentic hour of comedy from a comedian that is ready to launch."

This new special follows his two previous specials & albums White Privilege Homeless & Life Begins (both available on YouTube) as well as the comedy album I Think It Just Kicked In on 800 Pound Gorilla.

In a statement to 800 Pound Gorilla News ahead of the new special, Cannon shared his excitement for Traumatized Animal saying, "This special means a lot to me for a multitude of reasons. I put a tremendous amount of work into the material over the last two years and I think comedically it’s the strongest and most personal hour I’ve ever put out. I’ve also managed to make it a “family affair.”

He continues, "It was produced by my best friend Chris Distefano. It’s directed by my former podcast producer/frequent collaborator Nicole C Lyons. My wife designed the floral arrangement on stage and both of my sisters (Chloe and Jessica Cannon) performed the original song in the credits. I’ve always had the goal to work/create with the people I love and I feel like I achieved that with this special."

Chris Distefano adds, "Mike Cannon's Traumatized Animal is incredible. He crushed so hard that I thought the guy next to me was going to throw up from laughing. I’m so proud of getting to be a part of this. His unique spin on parenting makes me want to have more kids."

In line with Traumatized Animal's release, Cannon launched his new YouTube series Existential Dad, "a deep dive into the world of fatherhood as [we] discuss the full spectrum of emotions, psychedelic similarities and deep-seated trauma attached to the experience." The series runs for six episodes leading up to the premiere on September 15th, subscribe to Cannon's YouTube channel to check it out!
