Last Fall, we heard about the new FX comedy series ordered from comedian & writer Brian Jordan Alvarez called English Teacher, who leads & stars in the new show alongside fellow comedian Sean Patton. And today, we have a first look at the new series premiering on September 2nd. Check out the trailer for the new series above.
English Teacher follows Alvarez, the show's creator, writer, director & executive producer, as Evan Marquez in the show's titular profession. He plays "a high school teacher in Austin, Texas who often finds himself at the intersection of the personal, professional and political aspects of working at a high school. Evan wants to be a principled person but often runs into trouble because of it."
Rounding out the rest of its cast with Alvarez & Patton is Stephanie Koenig, Enrico Colatoni, & Carmen Christopher.
With FX's two Emmy-Award nominated comedy shows Reservation Dogs coming to an end & What We Do In The Shadows soon to wrap with its final season, FX has been actively at work beefing up its upcoming slate of comedy series this upcoming television season. After watching the trailer for English Teacher & seeing its amazing comedy talent & cast involved, we couldn't be more more excited to check out this new show!
Alvarez was most recently seen in the global Blumhouse phenomenon M3GAN, who's currently shooting the movie's sequel to be released in 2025. Koenig previously collaborated with Alvarez on the action-comedy A Spy Movie, where she starred, directed, produced & edited the feature film. Patton has been spending this past year & last touring with fellow comic David Cross & released his first hour-long special produced by Michael Che on Peacock, Number One (the album from that special is available here via 800 Pound Gorilla). Christopher is a comedian & writer who's been recurring on The Bear & just released his newest stand-up special, Live From The Windy City, on Veeps, which was produced by I Think You Should Leave creators Tim Robinson & Zach Kanin.
When does the new FX series "English Teacher" premiere?
The new show premieres its first two episodes on FX September 2nd and will be available to stream on Hulu.
