Taylor Tomlinson is joining the world of late-night!
Ever since James Corden announced he was leaving The Late Late Show, questions began swirling of who would replace him. It’s been 8 years since there was a vacancy on one of the major networks. This time around, CBS is taking a different route.
What's happening on Taylor Tomlinson's new late night show?
Tomlinson will host After Midnight, which is a panel series that will be loosely based on Comedy Central’s @midnight. Stephen Colbert - who hosts The Late Show right before the show - will serve as the executive producer, with Jo Firestone serving as head writer. The show is expected to kick off in 2024.
Colbert made the big announcement on his show last night. He talked about the news breaking regarding the show, and then mentioned needing to find a host. Tomlinson interrupts Colbert and offers to host. Once she sits down on the couch next to him, Colbert reveals a photo of the moment that she first learned she’d be the host via Zoom the day before.
We definitely feel like this is the right way to go for a number of ways. A lot has changed since the last turnover in late night. Fewer and fewer people are watching the format in real-time, meaning the traditional format mat not get as much buzz as it once did. And CBS securing Tomlinson as host is also promising, as she has proven herself to be one of the most popular comedians working today, with a loyal built in fanbase. We’re really curious to see what they wind up doing with the show!
