It’s hard to believe, but it’s been 10 years since Netflix first got into the stand-up special game.
What was the first stand-up special released on Netflix?
Their first release was Aziz Ansari: Buried Alive back in 2013. Since then, Netflix is responsible for changing the game with how stand-up specials are distributed. Other streamers did wind up following suit, but to date, Netflix still has over 350 specials currently on their platform.
To celebrate the anniversary, Netflix put together a compilation featuring Dave Chappelle, Ali Wong, Taylor Tomlinson, Norm MacDonald, Chris Rock, Kevin Hart, Gabriel Iglesias, Bo Burnham, Sarah Silverman, Wanda Sykes, John Mulaney, Bill Burr, Bert Kreischer, and countless others.
