Comedian Adam Ray's satirical take on the famed daytime talk show host, Dr. Phil, as part of his wildly popular Dr. Phil LIVE! series is getting the Netflix treatment in an upcoming comedy special premiering on the streamer November 19th. But this time: Ray as the parodied TV personality will be interviewing the man himself for the very first time.
According to Variety, the new untitled special will feature Ray-as-Phil interviewing Patton Oswalt, Jay Pharoah and “Gollum” while getting to know the audience through silly questions and games. His viral series has brought on tons of comics for unique interviews previously including guests Bill Burr, Whitney Cummings, Kumail Nanjiani & Bert Kreischer to name a few.
Ahead of the new special, Ray has been taking his character on the road since its debut at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles and also made appearances during this year's Netflix Is A Joke Fest as well as Kill Tony's live event at the LA Forum. He'll next bring it to New York Comedy Festival next month for a headlining set at The Beacon Theatre on November 15th.
The new special follows his two stand-up specials released this year, including Like And Subscribe (available on 800 Pound Gorilla) this past June and his crowd work special Bigfoot & Cigarettes available on YouTube. Ray's previous comedy albums Songs for the People & I’ll Take It From Here: The Crowd Work Album are also available on 800 Pound Gorilla for digital download & wherever you listen to comedy.
