This week marks a special time to be a New York comedy fan as the city's annual & beloved comedy gathering in the Big Apple, New York Comedy Festival, celebrates 20 years in business this year. The mainstay festival officially kicks off its celebratory festival this Friday, November 8th & runs through November 19th & has 200+ comedians performing across the city's five boroughs.

Being a fan of comedy in New York right now is special because of the abundance of options of places you can go see stand-up comedy. You've got your classics & staple venues like New York Comedy Club, the Comedy Cellar, Gotham Club, Bell House & more.

But over in the Manhattan borough, there's something in the water over at City Winery NYC, another one of New York's top comedy destinations that's attracting the biggest names in comedy to work out their new comedy specials & late night shows.

City Winery NYC is playing a pivotal part in today's comedy scene.

Among the comics frequenting there as of late is SNL comedian, writer & Weekend Update co-anchor Michael Che, who's workshopping his new working title late series Don't Sleep with Michael Che. Another one most famously in years past was another SNL performer John Mulaney, who workshopped his Emmy-award winning Netflix special Baby J there for 37 sold out shows. Additionally, fellow notable comedians Seth Meyers, Amy Schumer, and Chris Rock have also made City Winery their go-to stage for working on new material.

With the top comedic talent City Winery NYC has been able to attract to its stages along with its premium wine & dining experiences, it's no wonder they've been playing a part in redefining the comedy scene in New York. City Winery's state-of-the-art venue provides comedians with an elevated experience, complete with top-notch acoustics and a setting unlike any other in New York. There also aren't many comedy clubs that offer an abundance of top notch wine bottle service like City Winery does.

Michael Dorf, CEO of City Winery, shares in a statement: “At City Winery, we figured why not combine the two greatest things in life: wine and laughter. It’s like pairing a Cabernet with a belly laugh—both leave you feeling warm and a little lightheaded. Plus, where else can you bomb on stage and still walk away with a fantastic bottle of Pinot?”

While not officially a part of New York Comedy Fest this year, the venue is elated to be hosting esteemed comics coming up like Tiffany Haddish on November 8th, Theo Von on November 10th, & Joey Diaz on November 12th this week as the festival kicks off this weekend. Later this year, they'll be hosting shows with Steve Hofstetter, Brittany Schmitt, Moses Storm, Shapel Lacey & more. Tickets & more info can be found here!
