Back in May, Hulu announced its official entry into stand-up comedy at the Disney up-fronts by revealing comedy titan Jim Gaffigan as its first original stand-up special. And since then, Hulu has been lining up nearly a dozen comedians set to release their next comedy special with the Disney owned streamer.
In an effort to make a proper entry, Hulu has been teasing its comedy brand Hularious in previous announcements as well as licensing dozens of stand-up specials from the likes of 800 Pound Gorilla, Comedy Dynamics & Don't Tell Comedy. And today, we finally have a first look at Jim Gaffigan: The Skinny, Hulu's first ever original stand-up special premiering November 22nd.
The trailer & official poster art for Gaffigan's upcoming comedy special debuted this morning, check out the trailer above and its Macy's Day Parade themed Thanksgiving poster below.
Everything to know about Hulu's first original comedy special, "Jim Gaffigan: The Skinny."
In The Skinny, Gaffigan "provides the skinny on everything from appetite suppressants to raising teenagers in Hulu's very first comedy special." Gaffigan taped & directed the special earlier this year at The Wilbur Theatre in Boston as part of his Barely Alive tour (which makes for his 11th stand-up special overall). The trailer finds Gaffigan opening up on how his weight loss has made him arrogant, his family, thoughts on alcohol commercials, & jokes about how his wife claims he gaslights her.
With this new special, Gaffigan continues to have a busy & impressive year in comedy. Just this past Friday, Gaffigan nabbed his eighth GRAMMY nomination for his latest comedy album The Prisoner. He's also been recurring as MN governor Tim Walz this 50th season on Saturday Night Live, launched his Fathertime bourbon, performed with fellow comedy heavyweights Jerry Seinfeld, Sebastian Maniscalco & Nate Bargatze at Netflix Is A Joke Fest, and starred in Seinfeld's directorial debut Unfrosted on Netflix.
Other comedians set to premiere their next stand-up special on Hulu are Ilana Glazer, Bill Burr, Roy Wood Jr., Atsuko Okatsuka & Andrew Santino to name a few.
