Comedian & former Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood Jr. has set his next comedy special at Hulu, joining the streamer's growing roster of Hulu original stand-up programming alongside recently announced specials from Jim Gaffigan & Bill Burr.

The new special marks Wood Jr.'s fourth hour following his three previous hours with Comedy Central: Imperfect Messenger (2021), No One Loves You (2019) and Father Figure (2017). It'll be taped September 7th at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC. with c. Craig directing (who previously collaborated with the comedian on Imperfect Messenger) as well as Mainstay Entertainment and Jax Media producing (tickets for the special taping can be purchased here).

At the rate Hulu is going this year, the competing streaming service is impressively bolstering up its roster of original stand-up specials to be released under its comedy brand Hulu's Laughing Now.

Following yesterday's announcement, Roy stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to chat the highly anticipated new hour as part of his "One Night Only: Over the Course of Multiple Nights" tour.

“I’m blessed to be a part of the first wave of comedians that are in the game" says Wood Jr. about the forthcoming special at Hulu when chatting with guest host Anthony Anderson. "This is special number four, so I know what I'm doing now."

Given his background & expertise in culture & politics from his rise & run on The Daily Show, Washington DC makes this city the perfect place for Roy to tape the new hour as he says it is "the epicenter of all things culture & the epicenter of all things politics" and the place where a lot of his comedy intersects.

We're excited to hear more about this new special & the rest of the stand-up specials Hulu has planned next!
