Hulu has been taking some nice sized steps into the stand-up arena lately, including with Jim Gaffigan’s forthcoming special. Now they’re taking another big step by partnering with Bill Burr.
Everything we know about Bill Burr's new comedy special at Hulu.
Burr has been hitting the road pretty hard this year with his latest tour. He was also one of the biggest draws in comedy that Netflix had at this point. While other comics started branching out to other platforms a few years ago, Burr did 7 specials with Netflix, including Live At Red Rocks, Friends Who Kill, Paper Tiger, Walk Your Way Out, and I’m Sorry You Feel That Way.
Hulu on the other hand has been making quite the push to create their own stand-up hub. It’s a plan they announced back this year's Disney upfronts in May. Now, they’re talking about signing even more names for their platform. With Burr and Gaffigan, it sounds like they’re off to a good start.
The new hour was just taped June 26th-29th at the Moore Theater in Seattle, WA according to Burr's Instagram post. No news yet on what the hour is called or when it'll release (potentially December given Hulu's plan to release one original special a month every year beginning with Jim Gaffigan: The Skinny in November). We look forward to hearing more!
