From Right: David Cross, Nick Offerman, and Megan Mullally

“The Umbrella Academy” Season 4 Introduces Comedy To Its Historically Dark Landscape

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 trailer just dropped and will introduce some funny faces to its more seriously-inclined cast. Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally will once again bring their marriage to the screen. However, unlike in Parks and Recreation, the couple will portray Doctors Gene and Jean Thibedeau who Netflix has described as, “mild-mannered Midwestern community college professors.” The pair will soon have their patience manners put to the test when their sensible routines are disrupted by the timeline-jumping set of siblings known as The Umbrella Academy.

Both Mullally and Offerman found their breakout roles in sitcoms. For Mullally it was through Karen Walker in Will & Grace and for her on and off screen husband, Nick Offerman, Ron Swanson in Parks and Recreation was the role that took him to the big leagues. In Parks and Recreation, Offerman and Mullally play a hilariously toxic divorced couple which takes the show on some wild rides. In The Umbrella Academy however, Mullally and Offerman will play quite the opposite couple yet still bringing their shared sense of humor.

Across from them will be another sitcom sweetheart, David Cross who is best known as Tobias Fünke from Arrested Development. Cross has also found success in the stand-up world, putting out 6 specials and even more albums. The comedian will take on the role of Sy Grossman in The Umbrella Academy who is also a mild character for a comedian to play. Grossman is “an upstanding but shy business owner and family man.” In fact, all he wants is to reconnect with his estranged daughter. It's almost as if Cross wrote this role himself, seeing as his latest special was titled, Worst Daddy In The World
