Alex Edelman: Just For Us.

This Week In Comedy: Alex Edelman's Show "Just For Us" Premieres on HBO

While today is April Fool's, 800 Pound Gorilla is taking the full month of April for two of our favorite things: comedy & laughter. Today marks the official start of the first annual Worldwide Comedy Month, a month long celebration of an art form we deeply love. While we'll still be covering our standard weekly events happening in the comedy world, head over to worldwidecomedymonth.com for a full month breakdown of everything going on during the month of April from new comedy special releases, events, and so much more happening globally.

This Week In Comedy: Alex Edelman's anticipated solo show & stand-up special, Just For Us, makes its grand debut on HBO. The solo show makes its streaming debut after its critically acclaimed run on Broadway. In the wake of a string of anti-Semitic threats pointed in his direction online, Edelman decides to go straight to the source; specifically, Queens, where he covertly attends a meeting of White Nationalists and comes face-to-face with the people behind the keyboards. What happens next forms the backbone of the shockingly relevant, utterly hilarious, timely, and only moderately perspirant stories that comprise Just For Us.

And speaking of new specials: there are plenty more to look forward to this week from Demetri Martin (his first special in nearly six years) & his hour Demetri Deconstructed premiering on Netflix, Liz Miele's Murder Sheets premiering on YouTube, & Ivo Graham's Live From the Bloomsbury Theatre debuting exclusively on 800 Pound Gorilla just to name a few.

And finally: two sitcoms are each returning for second seasons. Maya Rudolph stars in Loot on Apple TV+, where she plays a recently divorced woman trying to "figure out what to do with her $87 billion settlement; she decides to reengage with her charitable foundation and reconnect with the real world-finding herself along the way."

George Lopez returns for season two of his family sitcom Lopez vs. Lopez on NBC. The show follows Lopez and his daughter Mayan, inspired by their real lives, as they navigate the ups and downs of living together after years of being estranged.
