This Week In Comedy: learn how to put out fires with the sun in the new parody, home improvement show from Showtime & A24, The Curse (starring Nathan Fielder & Emma Stone). The show “centers on Whitney and Asher Siegel, a newlywed couple struggling to bring their vision for eco-conscious housing to the small community of Española, New Mexico. But, their efforts are complicated when an eccentrically flawed reality TV producer, Dougie (played by Benny Safdie), sees opportunity in their story. As the series unfolds, the couple find themselves caught in a mysterious web of ethical and moral gray zones – all while trying to keep their relationship afloat.”
Also this week, two new critically acclaimed comedy movies open in theaters. Another comedy production from A24, Dream Scenario (starring Nicolas Cage, Michael Cera & Tim Meadows) and Alexander Payne's The Holdovers (starring Paul Giamatti).
Plus, three new comedy specials release this week from Gareth Reynolds (England, Weed & The Rest), Netflix's new special honoring The Improv (Improv: 60 & Still Standing), Leah Rudick (Spiraling), Mike Finoia (Don't Let Me Down) and Dina Hashem (Dark Little Whispers).
And finally: Albert Brooks' new documentary directed by Rob Reiner, Defending My Life, premieres on HBO!
