Hot Off The Mic: The Great & Powerful Adam Sandler Made His JRE Debut

There's something so admirable to be said about being consistent in your craft & doing it for so many years (for the real greats - it's decades). Showing up consistently to write new jokes, new scripts, new voices & characters no matter the result, failing gloriously to keep on shooting your shot until you see what sticks and then you find your audience from there. What's even more admirable is when you have that work ethic quality, great output, plus you have your peers calling you "one of the nicest guys ever" in your space, says Joe Rogan.

This is exactly what can be said for the comedy legend & beloved entertainer Adam Sandler, who made a rare podcast appearance this week on The Joe Rogan Experience. The king of family comedy films & beyond demonstrated all of this in a standout episode of JRE this week that is Hot Off The Mic. For more on this episode along with some more solid comedy podcast appearances from this past week, read on!

5) Randall Park finally joined Bobby Lee on Tigerbelly

Longtime friends & comedians Bobby Lee & Randall Park finally got to hit it together & connect on this week's episode of Tigerbelly. Before Randall Park immersed on the scene as Prank Jim on The Office, Agent Woo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and starring opposite actress & comedian Ali Wong in the Netflix rom-com Always Be My Maybe, Park first broke out as a stand-up early on in his career in the 2000s & even made a brief return to the format for a set on This Is Not Happening on Comedy Central in 2016. And here, we see some fun & entertaining dialogue between Park, Lee, & Khalyla Kuhn for a wide ranging conversation reflecting on Park's stand-up comedy origins as well as directing his feature debut Shortcomings available now on Netflix.

4) Hannah Berner rode at dawn and took her shoes off with Rick Glassman

Giggly squad podcaster & stand-up comedian Hannah Berner continues her run of podcast promo for her newest Netflix special, We Ride At Dawn, with a visit to Rick Glassman's Take Your Shoes Off Podcast while bringing her signature joy for a solid conversation. Berner made for a great guest appearance on this episode as seen by Glassman's dog Alvin feeling pure bliss as he's petted by Alvin. In this episode, the two comics get into a lot of nitty gritty stand-up discussions & deeper topics including the art of naming your special & how it's called out during the special itself, bonding over the LA comedy scene, & healing your inner child. If you're needing a Hannah giggly fix mixed with some deep thought from Glassman, consider giving this episode a listen!

3) Nick Swardson became an honorary bear in the cave with Tom Segura

This week on 2 Bears, 1 Cave, Nick Swardson stepped in for Bert Kreischer as an honorary bear on the pod as he's been taking this week to recover from recent hearing issues. Opposite Tom Segura, the two comics "talk about Carrot Top's jacked physique, what Tom eats in the morning, a cool chloroform prank, Comedy Central, the greats of alt-comedy, Tom's tour name, South Park, Minnesota, and so much more." Swardson also revealed that the forthcoming Happy Gilmore sequel he's involved in begins shooting in May & one of the best treats of this episode: Swardson gave a solid impression of one of the comedy greats Norm MacDonald & reflect on some funny stories about the late great comic.

2) Robert Smigel talks Triumph The Insult Comic Dog with Craig Ferguson

Saturday Night Live fans are in for a real treat for this week's episode of Joy, a podcast with Craig Ferguson. Joining him this week is Robert Smigel. The writer, director, & comedian from SNL, Conan, Leo & the voice behind everyone's favorite comedic puppet dog Triumph The Insult Comic Dog. Smigel stops by to chat with Craig about his newest special available now on Team Coco's YouTube channel, Let's Make A Poop LIVE From Chicago's Den Theatre. Seeing & hearing two comedy greats across from each other talking shop about such rich comedy culture make this a great conversation. One of the highlights from this episode was Smigel opening up about his shut down Hans and Franz movie based on the classic SNL sketch with Dana Carvey & Kevin Nealon that Conan also helped write.

1) Adam Sandler made an ultimate appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience

In a rather surprising & unexpected move, the great & powerful comedian, actor & producer Adam Sandler stopped by The Joe Rogan Experience this week ahead of his anticipated new Netflix comedy special, Love You, premiering August 27th. This appearance was certainly a treat many are still talking about since its Tuesday debut and proved further just how great, kind & a standout guy the Sandman appears to be. The two comics chatted all things his movies, why he won't make You Don't Mess With The Zohan 2 despite encouragement from his daughters & Rogan, working together on the Kevin James starring & Sandler produced flick The Zookeeper, why Sandler thinks Chris Rock's Oscars slap was "the best thing that ever happened to [him]," and a whole lot more per usual in the 2 hour plus extended run time.
