It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Abbott Elementary are mainstays of their networks - ABC and FX, respectively. They also both happen to be under the giant Disney umbrella. Well now, those shows are going to get an official crossover episode.
What to know about the "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" & "Abbott Elementary" crossover episode.
The news was first made public by Always Sunny creator and star Rob McElhenney. McElhenney posted photos on Instagram of both casts on the Abbott Elementary set. It didn’t take long for fans to figure out what was going on, even though he didn’t say anything other than the caption “Oh. Hello.”
This was after Abbott star Quinta Brunson teased that two shows could be doing something together at Comic Con back in July. She didn’t mention WHICH shows, but she did say a crossover would be involved during the show’s fourth season.
“We will be doing an interesting crossover this season … but I’m not going to tell you with who or with what or where or when or how,” Brunson said. “But it’s really exciting, and I think it’ll change television as we know it.”
So there you have it. Fans can rejoice, and we can’t wait to see what the creative minds behind those shows have cooked up for us!
Abbott Elementary returns for its fourth season on ABC Wednesday, October 9th. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is currently writing new episodes for season 17 set to shoot later this fall.
