With the Golden Globes right around the corner, it was starting to look like there may not be an official host this year. But that changed this morning, as they finally announced their host.
Jo Koy has been tapped to host the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards. Taking place live next month from the Beverly Hilton hotel, the comic is following fellow-comedian Jerrod Carmichael, who hosted the Globes last year.
Jo Koy on his excitement for hosting this year's Golden Globes.
“I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special. I’m so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes this year,” said Koy in a statement. “This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud. Mahal Kita (Google it)!”
This also marks the first time the Globes will not be airing on NBC since 1996. After a programming slate that didn’t have too much going on due to the strikes, CBS opted to pick up the Golden Globes for 2024.
See what Koy has in store when the Globes return on Sunday January 7th on CBS (streams next day on Paramount+).
