Joe Gatto, a former member of the prank show & comedy group The Impractical Jokers, is out to make it bigger than he already has in stand-up following his storied two decade long career in sketch comedy with his debut special Messing With People, premiering tomorrow night at 7 PM CT on 800 Pound Gorilla’s YouTube channel. Gatto is a New Yorker through and through who hails from Staten Island, which seems to be a comedic breeding ground from the likes of Colin Jost and Pete Davidson. He boasts of his Italian heritage and his love of cannolis, naming one of his dogs after the puff pastry.
Gatto is not the only Impractical Joker launching his solo stand-up career. In fact, earlier this year, Sal Vulcano released his widely successful debut special Terrified (which you can check out here). The Impractical Joker fan base showed up and showed out for Vulcano’s special and they’ve been doing the same for Joe Gatto across his two years of touring, selling out theaters across the the United States, Canada and Australia.
Messing With People has been fine tuned for two full trips around the sun but even before Joe Gatto’s Night of Comedy tour, Gatto had been selling out legendary arenas, such as Madison Square Garden in New York and the O2 Arena in London with the Jokers in their live comedy tour. Gatto is primed to work a crowd.
Outside of stand-up, Gatto also hosts the popular comedy podcast "Two Cool Moms", the show where fans write in with their problems and Gatto and his co-host Steve Byrne try their best to dispense sage motherly advice. He also just recently published his first ever children’s book Where’s Bearry?, “a heartwarming bedtime adventure about a boy’s quest to find his missing stuffed bear, brought to life by exciting illustrations from Luke Flowers.”
Since Gatto left Impractical Jokers to focus on raising his family, fans have been wanting an update and Messing With People is ready to fill them in on all the hilarious stuff that’s happened since then. Gatto is still an Impractical Joker at heart, pranking people is a regular practice in his day to day life. Whenever he uses a public restroom he leaves it unlocked, waiting and ready to make some poor bloke very uncomfortable. Gatto gives his hilarious take on a wide range of topics from major plot holes in Disney classics to how Google has ruined his life on multiple occasions. Messing With People gives the audience a peek at Gatto’s family life, fatherhood and life with a pack of twelve dogs. If you're a dog person and a cannoli craver, there is no better comedian for you than Joe Gatto.
