“Lano & Woodley: In Lano & Woodley” Celebrates Their Ludicrous & Wacky Career

In order to understand Aussie stand-up comedians like Celia Pacquola, Luke Kidgell, Josh Glanc, & James McCann, you have to start with the famed Lano and Woodley.

Australian slapstick comedy duo Lano and Woodley, made up of Colin Lane and Frank Woodley, have been around the block with their ridiculously hilarious skits, songs, and seafaring shanties. Lano and Woodley: In Lano and Woodley celebrates the duo’s decades of delight, compiling all their greatest hits. The mix of new material and classic routines draws from Lano and Woodley’s massive arsenal of asinine sketches that has made millions laugh at even one of literature’s most respected works, Moby Dick.

It all started at Melbourne’s tiny Carlton Courthouse when the comedy trio The Found Objects split in 1994, leaving only two members, Colin Late and Frank Woodley. The show was a smash hit and went on to win the prestigious Perrier Award for best comedy in Edinburgh. The buzz made it all the way back home where they were greeted with sold out shows. Their stint as a duo also earned them a TV show with ABC and BBC.

In 2006, the duo decided to go on a farewell tour which was met with more than 150,000 people buying tickets to say goodbye to the famed pair.

Twelve years later, at the Melbourne Comedy Festival’s 30th Birthday Gala, the duo reprised their roles in a surprise performance that stole the show. It left the audience and even Lane and Woodley themselves wondering what’s next. So, they decided, why not create a foolishly funny show called FLY! about the Wright brothers. FLY! was recorded where the pair broke out Melbourne but this time in the much bigger Malthouse Theatre. The sold-out show was brought to Amazon Prime Video in 2020.

In 2021, Lano and Woodley: In Lano and Woodley was released in Australia but now it'll be witnessed in front of a bigger audience so get ready for logic bending verbal chaos and bickering banter that make up the masterpieces Lano and Woodley can’t help but create.
