After returning to The Daily Show earlier this year to host & executive produce throughout the 2024 presidential election cycle, Jon Stewart is taking his work with Comedy Central to the next level from one day a week to two days a week. The comedian & talk show host has signed on to host a new podcast in an aptly titled series, The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart.
In Stewart's new podcast, the show will span “the most critical topics across current events,” featuring a variety of guests including newsmakers, authors and celebrities. It should be noted that this podcast will be different & separate in programming from The Daily Show: Ears Edition podcast.
What they're saying about "The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart."
“After much reflection, meditation, and prayer, I have decided to extend my work week to two days,” jokes Stewart in a statement. “All hail Comedy Central!”
“Jon’s return to The Daily Show has been a runaway success – a powerful reminder of why he’s the voice of our generation and so critical to the national conversation,” said Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Office of the CEO and President/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios. “This new podcast enables Jon to delve even deeper into complex issues and make sense of it for all for us through his razor-sharp wit and indelible humor.”
Expect the new podcast to drop on all major platforms this June, we'll hear about a new audio trailer & official date likely in the coming weeks. With the critical acclaim The Daily Show has gotten since Stewart's return as well as its recent correspondent expansion with Josh Johnson, Troy Iwata & Grace Kuhlenschmidt, it seems more than a no brainer for Comedy Central (and Stewart) to wanna capitalize on the recent ratings wins. We're looking forward to checking out this new show!
