This year marks the 30th anniversary of Kevin Smith’s debut film, Clerks. 30 years ago this month, the indie film first played at the Sundance Film Festival. Smith is finding a way to honor the distinction with a brand-new film.
This week, Kevin Smith announced that he will be donning the backwards baseball hat on camera again alongside Jason Mewes for a new Jay and Silent Bob film. The two have hard two films of their own - Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot - and also made appearances in countless other Smith films over the years, starting with Clerks. So the timing seems right to bring them back again.
Kevin Smith on the announce of the new Jay and Silent Bob Movie.
Smith wrote, “2024 will see us back in the costumes and fake-hair-hat for a funny fucking flick about an escalating war in the Central Jersey legal weed business! Get ready to giggle at an #askewniverse movie in which nobody dies this time! I’m virtually finished with the first draft so expect more news about the flick (including the title) by February!”
So there you have it. Kevin Smith is hard at work on the next Jay and Silent Bob installment, and we’ll hopefully get to see our favorite New Jersey drug dealers again very soon!
