Just before premiering her new Netflix comedy special, A Buteau-ful Mind at Radio City Music Hall, on New Year's Eve, comedian & actress Michelle Buteau has been tapped to host the 2024 Billboard Music Awards December 12th at 7 PM CT on FOX.
The multi-hyphenate's newest hosting gig with Billboard is just the latest among her previous credits, which include hosting the hit Netflix reality competition series The Circle as well as the second season of Barbecue Showdown (also on Netflix). She joins the company of another fellow stand-up comic, Trevor Noah, a four-time Grammy-Awards emcee, to host a music-centric awards show.
The annual ceremony "honors the year’s biggest artists, albums, songs, producers and songwriters across multiple genres, as determined by year-end performance metrics on the Billboard charts, the music industry’s ultimate authority and data-driven measure of success."
"Music is just one of those magical devices that can bring people together no matter what walk of life they're from,” said Buteau in a press release. “And that's what makes the Billboard Music Awards so special. These amazing, chart-topping artists deserve to be celebrated, and that's exactly what we're going to do! With me hosting, you can expect a fun party, a cute celebration and a whole moment in a plus size sequin suit!"
Among this year's top nominees for Artist of the Year include Zach Bryan, Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen and Sabrina Carpenter (click here for a full list of this year's nominations).
Ahead of her next hosting gig, Buteau starred in the Pamela Adlon-directed pregnancy comedy Babes alongside Ilana Glazer, which opened in theaters this past May. And later, she'll be returning with the second season of her Netflix comedy series Survival of the Thickest in 2025 & soon begin production on her next film Spa Weekend, opposite Leslie Mann, Isla Fisher and Anna Faris.
