New York Comedy Club’s wunderkind, Seaton Smith is rereleasing his 2022 special, Live From Madison Square Garden. His half-hour special was the opening act for John Mulaney’s Madison Square Garden performance on the 2022 tour. Smith is known for his one of a kind, “smart but ignorant” humor.
Smith graces one of the largest comedy stages with his jokes on rich people, his time as a golf caddy, and how therapy can be a weapon in relationships. It’s jokes like these that get so much praise. Smith was one of Vulture’s 50 comedians you should know in 2015 and the outlet says he stood out in the “overcrowded stand-up scene” because he is always “bursting with energy.” Time Out New York also praised his vigor calling him “as spirited as he is cerebral.” The outlet also called him, “one to watch” because of his “naturally effervescent stage presence."
Smith is not just a comedian, he is also an actor, writer and director. Smith made his first television debut as a character named “Motif” on Fox’s show Mulaney. In 2015, he debuted his stand-up skills on television with a breakout performance on Late Night With Seth Meyers. This led to an appearance in Inside Amy Schumer, HBO’s season 5 finale of Girls and Hulu’s Difficult People. Throughout all this, Smith was also a regular guest on Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show. In 2017, Smith would return to do stand up on late night, this time Smith had a blast making people uncomfortable on Conan.
Now, Smith is a world traveler. You can call Smith a lot of things but one of them is not lazy. Smith has performed at over 200 colleges across the country. He has also emerged on the international stage, headlining shows across the world, appeared in international comedy festivals including The Iveagh Gardens Comedy Festival in Dublin, Melbourne Comedy Festival, and the prestigious Just for Laughs Montreal. Smith proudly says, “I got platinum miles yo!”
