“Shrek 5” Gets 2026 Release Date With Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy Returning

When Shrek 4 came out in 2010, it was touted as being the final one. Still, fans remained hopeful for more over the years. There had been rumors, as recently as a few weeks ago when Eddie Murphy confirmed more was on the way. But we had yet to have official confirmation.

Today, we got just that. Dreamworks has officially announced that Shrek 5 is in production, and that it will be released on July 1st, 2026. This will mark the original film’s 25th anniversary, which seems absolutely crazy to think that it’s been that long.

Everything we know about "Shrek 5" so far.

Returning for the film will be Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz. This marks a rare outing for Myers, who has only taken on sporadic work since the last film came out. He mostly did a Netflix TV series and hosted The Gong Show on ABC. So this is a welcome cinematic return for Myers.

Plot details aren’t released yet, but we can’t wait to see what’s next!
